Popsugar Must Have February 2014

Ahhhhh, the Popsugar Must Have box, my favorite subscription box. No other box out there (at least not one that I've found) offers such a high value with full size products for the price.

At $39.99 per month (free shipping), I have never gotten a box that was valued at under $100. Other boxes try to compete, but they just can't hold a candle to Popsugar. (And no, Popsugar is not paying me to say this, I just love it that much!).

Here is what I got in my February 2014 Popsugar Must Have box:

Overall, I'd say there was a pretty good haul for February.

There was a Gorjana Brooks Jewelry Roll. Mine was in Berry. Whenever I travel, I usually just throw my jewelry into a side pocket on my suitcase and it ends up tangled. Or worse, I forget about it and find the earrings, rings, etc., a year later! This may come in handy. ARV $45.00

My favorite thing from this box was the Nourish Organic Pure Hydrating Argan Serum. I'm at the ripe old age of 39 and beginning to see some lines around the eye area, so anything that will keep me looking closer to 30 than 40 is welcome! ARV $23.99

The Modelo Lip Pops Duo Lip Gloss and Lipstick is nice. There have been many times when I have had lipstick but wished I had lip gloss and vice versa. Now I don't have to wish anymore! I couldn't find this by itself, only in a set. If I divide out the price, one tube would be $12.25.

During this tremendously cold winter (which this Southern girl is NOT accustomed to!), the smell of fresh peonies was a welcome treat! Popsugar included a K Hall Designs Peony Travel Candle. It is made of vegetable wax and has 20 hours of burn time. ARV $11.00

What is Valentine's Day without red nail polish? Popsugar made sure we were covered by including NCLA Rodeo Drive Royalty Nail Polish. It's a very rich red. ARV $16.00

Cinnamon mini hearts? Perfect for February! Sugarwish Mini Red Cinnamon Hearts are packaged in a fancy little box that would be perfect for gifting or eating. This is sold in a box of four candies for $25, so the ARV of the mini hearts would be $6.25.

I'm not so sure why everyone was so upset about getting the Dial body wash. It is listed as a "Special Extra". It smells good and I'm always needing more body wash! ARV $3

I get the total value of this box as $117.49!

I thought it was a great box and I will use everything included. I love getting a bargain and this was no exception!

Kroger and Coupons?

A few months ago, Kroger changed their coupon policy citing new lower prices in exchange for previously doubling coupons and accepting manufacturer coupons on top of digital coupons.

Now all coupons are accepted at "face value".

The store also has the right to refuse any coupon that will not scan.

The "refusal" rule brings me to my story at hand....

Last Sunday I took my 13 year old daughter on a couponing excursion (hey, teach them young!). We first went to Walgreens where we looted $68 worth of HBA for only $30 (not my personal best, but definitely nothing to sneeze at). Walgreens had absolutely no problems with any of my coupons which had been cut from the newspaper. Next we went to Kroger. I didn't really have many coupons for Kroger, but I had a few that I wanted to use. I had about 4 digital coupons loaded on my Kroger card and about 5 manufacturer's coupons. My daughter and I carefully checked each item to make sure it was for what the coupon said. I am not a novice when it comes to couponing!

When I went to check out, all of the digital coupons worked by only ONE of my manufacturer coupons would scan! The checker handed me the coupons back and said she couldn't take them because they wouldn't scan. I was a little upset because there were items that I would not have bought without the coupons. She asked if I wanted to take the items off, but there was a line forming behind me and I didn't want to make everyone wait for just a few items. I just paid. I said to the checker, "So I guess ya'll aren't taking coupons from the paper anymore."

"Yes," she answered, "but only ones that scan."

I looked for a manager but none was around. This will make me think twice before shopping at Kroger. If I had clipped more coupons and had a ton of stuff in my shopping cart, I would have been WAY more irritated and angry, as would the people behind me because I would have made them remove everything I bought with a coupon.

Long story short, I will not be going back to Kroger to use coupons because I have better things to do with my time than carefully find items to match my coupons only to have them not work at the register.

I'm very disappointed in Kroger to say the least.

Any comments about Kroger and their coupon policy?

Popsugar Must Have Box

I have tried one.....
I have tried many.....

But the best one in my opinion is....

As a subscriber since the beginning of time according to Popsugar, I have enjoyed a multitude of products that I now cannot live without.

One of my favorite things I've ever received was my Brokedown scarf (retail value $84):

More from Brokedown was my wrap-around bath towel, which I wear religiously EVERY morning! It is so soft! (retail value $84)

At the price of $39.95/month you will get over $100 worth of products. It is a deal I can't pass up! You can save a little by ordering their 3, 6, or 12 month subscription plan.

Try it out today with a $5 off code. Sign up and add the code REFER5 before you checkout, making your first box only $34.95!

Social Bliss Style Box - NEW SUBSCRIPTION!

If you have read my blog at all, you know that I am all about subscription boxes! I am constantly on the lookout for new boxes that I think I might excite me.

I have come across a new one call the Socialbliss Style Box . The first box hasn't shipped yet, but it looks like it could be promising and comparable to Popsugar's Must Have box. I have been a subscriber of Popsugar since their first box and overall have been pleased, but I wanted to give the Socialbliss Style Box a try for at least a month and see how it compares.

One downside to the Style Box is that they do charge a $7.95 shipping fee on top of the $39.95 for the box itself. Popsugar doesn't charge for shipping and you can usually find some discount codes for Popsugar as well.

Socialbliss promises between $100-$200 worth of product in each box. And they offer a money back guarantee if you don't love it!

I decided to go ahead and take a chance and order it. I will probably suspend my Popsugar subscription for a couple of months since I usually allow myself a $50/month budget for boxes (yeah, I could spend WAY more if I didn't govern myself!!).

I'm not sure when the first box will ship. I did have to sign up at Socialbliss.com and get on a waiting list, but I was only on the list for about a week before I received an invitation to get the Style Box.
As soon as I receive my box of goodies, I will post what I got. I'm excited!
